I’m a 73 year old practicing Catholic, born into the faith. I started drinking alcohol quite young and we weren’t told that it was a sin. In fact, alcohol was sold at our annual parish bazaar. For me, alcohol was poison. I drank to excess and it caused (through my own fault ) behavioral issues in which I freely sinned, as well as causing a mental breakdown. This is how it evolved for me. I can’t understand how anyone could teach that marijuana is always immoral but alcohol is fine in moderation. Makes no sense.

You have to love how a country with so much alcoholism and accidental death from alcohol would make marijuana, a relatively safe drug with medical uses, illegal. Notice how people say drugs and alcohol. Actually alcohol is the most dangerous drug a person can use, period. This includes opiates. Only alcohol can cause death from withdrawels. What else would you expect from a religion that makes people afraid of their own bodies. A religion that villinizes sex to prevent teen pregnancy, and yet blocks the use of even the simplest birth control (condoms). You can believe your 2000 year old book and priest. I will believe in science, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, statistics, case studies and facts in general.
