On Thursday, Sept. 23, Fordham Rose Hill United Student Government (USG) held their weekly meeting and discussed intramural sports.

Due to COVID-19, intramural sports leagues were not held during the fall of 2020 nor the spring semester of 2021.

However, this year intramural sports will be back on Fordham’s campus when the website gets up and running again. Fordham Athletic Director Ed Cole said his department is working hard to get intramural sports ready for the fall.

There is an ongoing delay on the line to enter the Marketplace at the McGinley Center because staff must check the VitalChecks of every student swiping into the cafeteria. Senator Santiago Vidal Calvo, FCRH ’24, proposed that the university update the ID scanners there to show vital checks when staff swipes students’ cards.

Due to current New York COVID-19 guidelines, anyone dining indoors must be able to show proof of vaccination. Therefore, Marketplace employees must see the vaccine status on a student’s VitalCheck, causing them to check each person’s phone as they enter the cafeteria.

Maya Bentovim, GSB ’23, head of the Dining Committee, said she will work to reduce lines in the Marketplace and make the entry into the Marketplace smoother.

USG voted on Club of the Month this week, and by a landslide vote, El Grito won for the month of September.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) released their Spring Weekend speaker survey. The survey is open for all students and will remain open through the next week.
