On Feb. 7, Campus Ministry held a Common Grounds conversation titled, “Current Realities of Migrants and Asylum Seekers.” They held a panel featuring Joanna Williams, executive director of the Kino Border Initiative; Power Malu, executive director of Artists, Athletes and Activists; and Adama Bah, a Guinean-born immigration reform activist.
In their first email of the spring semester, the Outdoors Club — known for their regular rock climbing events — wrote to members: “due to reasons out of our control, our funding has been severely diminished.” The email cited these budget cuts as the reason for why they will no longer be able to do events of their “usual caliber.” (Courtesy of Instagram)

Fordham University has officially become the 24th law school in the country to boycott the U.S. News & World Report rankings. According to a statement made by Matthew Diller, dean of Fordham Law School, the university “will no longer provide data to the U.S. News for use in its ranking other than information that is already generally available to the public.”
The Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Division for Student Affairs is hosting a “Racial Solidarity Network Interactive Workshop.”

In celebration of Black History Month, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Division for Student Affairs is hosting a two-day “Racial Solidarity Network Interactive Workshop.” The interactive workshop is available for students, faculty and staff, and is offered at both campuses on Feb. 7 and 14 (Rose Hill) or Feb. 8 and 15 (Lincoln Center).

On Jan. 21, the deadliest shooting of the month occurred in Monterey Park, Calif., where 11 people were killed and nine were wounded. Only three days after the Monterey Park shooting, another mass shooting occurred in Half Moon Bay, Calif. The recent events have brought gun violence to the forefront of the media again.

Fordham Junior Develops App to Help Underprivileged Youth

Jillian Rodgers, FCRH ’24, has been working in a lab that has been developing an app called MentorHub, which is designed to help underprivileged youth connect with mentors and facilitate discussions between mentors and their mentees. Rodgers has been working on this app alongside the psychology department’s Elizabeth Raposa, Ph.D., as well as many other graduate students.
