To close out Fordham’s Spring Weekend, “Saturday Night Live” comedian Colin Jost performed at the Leonard Prep Theatre this Sunday. The theatre was filled to the brim with about 1,000 students: the largest turnout CAB’s Comedy Committee has ever had for this event.

Jost’s openers were Jack Byram and Meghan Walsh, the winners of Fordham’s Last Comic Standing in April. Byram discussed his experiences with airplanes in his act, while Walsh humorously explained her experiences as a “fat girl” compared to her “hot sister.” The third act was Mike Recine, a professional New York based comedian who has written for the MTV Video Music Awards. Recine discussed a variety of topics, mentioning the humor in family and his love life.

Colin Jost received a great audience reaction from entrance to exit. He began by relating to Fordham students, mentioning the fact that he grew up in Staten Island and attended Regis, a Catholic high school in Manhattan. Jost told stories about priests, his parents’ fervent desire for him to visit the Botanical Gardens while he was at Fordham and touched upon the all-too-common annoying roommate experience. He humorously asked the entire audience for their majors, joking that they all can’t be “the math club.” He also touched on the dating world, telling an interesting story about his parents walking in on a date. At the end of his bit, Jost revealed some of his SNL skit ideas to the Fordham audience.

Erin Biggins, FCRH ’17, the CAB Publicity Co-Chair, thoroughly enjoyed her final night of Spring Weekend. “As a huge fan of Colin Jost, it was one of the best comedian events we’ve ever had. I’m so proud of CAB’s Comedy Committee for all of their hard work and I’m so thankful to be part of this organization. Spending Spring Weekend with my CAB family makes the countless hours of preparation worth it,” said Biggins.

CAB Comedy Committee Co-Chair Megan McWaters, FCRH ’17, who hosted and planned the show alongside Kathryn Teaney, FCRH ’19, was incredibly satisfied with the success of the event: “I was very happy to see so many students come out. I think the comedian is a great way to end the weekend.”
