As the Ram’s very own seniors prepare to leave Fordham, we asked them about their favorite moments in their time spent in McShane B-52.
Sebastian Diaz
Diaz, a film and journalism double major, has been at the Ram since Volume 102, most recently serving as Managing Editor for Volume 105. They recount that their most important moment at the Ram was “investigating USG corruption in the 2022 elections.”
Kari White
White is double majoring in environmental studies and English with a creative writing concentration. She was Culture Editor for Volume 105 and, during her time at the Ram, the moment that stands out the most is the 2022 spring semester’s Ram picnic. “I remember sitting on Eddie’s, talking about pop culture, books, Starbucks’ new iced matcha lemonade and our favorite memories from the semester. Coming to college, I had been worried about “finding my people,” and that was a moment when I felt like I really had,” she said.
Hanif Amanullah
Amanullah is an international studies major with minors in environmental studies and philosophy. He was most recently Managing Editor for Volume 104. Amanullah recalls his most memorable moment as creating the “Producing The Fordham Ram” video. He said, “working for the Ram was one of the best parts of my college experience, but one of the highlights was creating the ‘Producing The Fordham Ram’ video for Volume 104. I’d always wanted to incorporate a videojournalism section at the Ram, so kicking off the new YouTube channel with thatvideo was really wonderful. It was hilarious to shoot, too. Watching it brings back great memories and still makes me smile.”
Nora Leach
Leach is an English and American studies double major andmost recently served as an executive copy editor. Leach notes her favorite memory was listening to the Hamilton soundtrack at the copy table. “During one of our Monday copy nights, we decided to listen to the ‘Hamilton’ soundtrack. While I was a big fan of the musical in high school, I didn’t think I’d remember all of the words. Two hours later, Michael, Sophia, Hannah and I could sing almost all of the lyrics — much to Cailee’s dismay — before we had to stop ourselves. I barely edited any articles that night, but I think that’s just proof of how The Fordham Ram is more than just a newspaper, as cheesy as that sounds. I’ll always be grateful to the Ram for the friends I’ve made here and for reactivating my ‘Hamilton’ phase.”
Michael Sluck
Sluck is a political science and computer science double major and Production Editor for Volume 105. Sluck recalls his favorite memory was covering President Tetlow’s inauguration last fall. “My favorite memory at the Ram was covering President Tetlow’s inauguration. It was a big day, and it was exciting to get to talk to so many people and feel like a part of Fordham’s history alongside my friends.”
Maddie Bimonte
Bimonte is a journalism major with a minor in political science. She was Sports Editor for Volume 105. Bimonte finds it hard to pick a favorite memory from her time at the Ram. “I honestly can’t pinpoint one memory. Truly every single week we’d all get together for either budget or for putting the paper together on Tuesdays became synonymous with my college experience. I only spent two semesters throughout college not doing the Ram. I feel like I practically moved into B-52 by the second year.”
Jamison Rodgers
Rodgers is an English major with a creative writing concentration and psychology minor. She was most recently Editorial Director for Volume 105. Rodgers says her favorite Ram memory was the end of semester parties: “It was so fun to see everyone outside of the Ram office. These parties allowed us to become better friends in a more relaxed way. Another favorite memory was the escape room we did sophomore year because it was when we all were just starting to become friends.”
Samantha Minear
Minear is an international studies and communication and culture double major who served as Features Editor for Volume 105. She described a spread of memories that were important during her time at the Ram, including “talking to Michael about The Wire; getting peach boba with Emma every night; playing Skribbl.io and God knows what else; harassing Nicole/Kari/Nick for the front page headlines.”
Nicole Braun
Braun is an English major with a concentration in creative writing and a minor in French. She served as Opinion Editor for Volume 105. Braun recalled fond memories during production nights at the Ram. “I loved the whole routine of being an editor, especially Production Nights: chatting with my co-editors and discussing that week’s articles, spending more time than might have been necessary brainstorming a single headline, the way the room lit up once pizza arrived. But my favorite part of the night was when we would all turn toward the copy table for our weekly philosophical debates. Waxing poetic and laughing uncontrollably in the Ram office at 1 a.m. are memories I will always cherish.”
Amanda Yarolin
Yarolin is a biological sciences major and has been at the Ram since Volume 103, most recently as Copy Chief for volume 104. She recalls that her favorite memory was shooting the production video. “The takes (and bloopers) were all so fun to shoot, but the best was having all of the sections come together to watch it during production. The video itself, and the memories it captured, will always be with me!”
