President Barack Obama will appoint Emanuel Chirico, GSB ’79, to a serve as a member of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations. Chirico is chairman and chief executive officer of Phillips-Van Heusen. Phillips-Van Heusen is an apparel company which owns brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein and licenses brands such as BCBG Max Azria and Michael Kors. The committee is responsible for advising the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative on trade matters. Chirico was born and raised in the Bronx and attended Fordham University as did his two sons. Marketplace Magazine named him Person of the Year. Institutional Investor Magazine ranked him first in “Best CEO in the Apparel, Footwear and Textiles Industry,” in 2012. Before acting as CEO for Phillips-Van Heusen, Chirico was a partner at Ernst & Young LLC. for 14 years.
