After a rough finish last weekend at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial, this week was not any easier for Fordham Golf. They traveled to Connecticut once again for the Hartford Hawks Invite, where they struggled in a weather-shortened tournament for a 17th-place tie out of 20 teams. That is actually the second-to-last place, as three times tied for 18th. The tournament was supposed to be three rounds of golf, but was shortened to 36 holes due to the weather.

Once again, the major bright spot for the Rams was senior Josh Madarang. He shot a 68 during Round 1, which had him in a tie for ninth place and just two strokes off of the lead. He faded just a little bit in the second round, finishing it with a 73, giving him a total of 141. That means for the second tournament in a row, Madarang has improved upon his career-best two-round score, which sat at 146 coming into this year. In their first tournament, he finished with a 144.

However, the golfers behind Madarang did not keep pace, leading to their lackluster finish. The next-highest Rams, sophomore Anthony Wells and freshman Aidan Denning, finished tied for 80th place with a score of 156. After an opening-round 74, Wells struggled the second day, shooting an 82. Denning was rather consistent, with an opening 79 followed by a 77.

Following those two was sophomore Mithran Denbow, who opened with an 83 but rebounded with a second-round 78, resulting in a 161, giving him a 100th place finish. Rounding it out for the Rams was senior Thomas Hayes, who shot a 79 then an 84 to give him a 163 and a 103rd-place finish.
Golf will need to shake off both the poor performances, and hopefully the rain, by the weekend, as the Rams travel to Vermont for the Dartmouth-hosted Quechee Invite.
