Mr. Dobusky, I happened on your article of Gould Memorial Library. Your article on the facts surrounding Stanford White, Evelyn Nesbitt and Harrry Thaw, though intresting, is at the expense of relating the more interesting and contiuing story of Chancellor MacCracken’s “vision of an NYU campus in New York City’s burgeoning and grandiose new borough: the Bronx.”
Still you have told the essential story to the present and the effort to Save Gould Memorial Library. I lead tours at the campus. I was dismayed to learn that you were denied entrance to the campus and Gould Memorial Library. We are National Historical Landmark and, as such, we encourage visitors. It’s clearly noted on our Web page that self-directed tours arepermitted and free. It’s possible you came on a Sunday and the officer knew that the Library was closed. Should you still be interested in visiting, email me at: [email protected]. I will be happy to give you a personal tour of the Stanford White Cpmplex, monday through friday, during school hours.
