Someone with major food service experience, hospital, major corporation or school might be a place to start. Hunts Point in close proximity and their Fish Market. So silly that this could not be both good for students and profitable at same time. New student center, rec center gym plans must include in-house food service operation.

Actually Sodexo does cater to prisons as well. http://www.sodexo.com/home/services/on-site-services/justice-services.html. Both Sodexo and Aramark are profit-driven companies. I don’t think they are more ethical than another. Actually If I remember correctly, Fodham students used to criticize Sodexo’s poor food because Fordham’s caf allegely have similar level of service to the company’s cafering plans for prisons.

The link is for Europe. They don’t have prison contracts in the USA because of capital punishment. If a country has the death penalty, they don’t bid.

Yes i see where u are coming from but what difference does it make? Both companies cater to prisons. The stand on capital punishment is a seperate issue. The fact Sodexo doesnt support capital punishment doesnt make the company more ethical. We can sit here all day and argue whether its ethical to punish one by taking his/her life. Simply google both Aramark and Sodexo. u will find scandals about both companies. As the title of the article suggests, the real questions is whether Aramark is the lesser of two evils and wether the new caterer will bring a change?

Sodexo refuses to bid on prison contracts for moral and ethical reasons.

Baldor is a food provider in the Bronx that gets all the produce to Eatly. Fordham Dining is the number 1 source of LOCAL foods in the NYC area. You can check on the Baldor Pledge Local website: http://www.baldorfood.com/pledge

Baldor refuses to work with Aramark because they don’t meet their standards as a food provider. Is this really the lesser of two evils? From what I understand, Sodexo did a lot with the local community such as donating food to a food bank in the Bronx twice a week, making donations to city harvest two a year, feeding Bronx children in summer camps for free. No food provider is perfect but what has Aramark committed too? Everything I read about them is awful. I feel like it all came down to money and we the Fordham students will suffer…
