Matt with all due respect, McShane’s time has come and gone. Fordham has become some form of Christian bible camp for kids. The overall academics are weak, I mean 50% of the teaching is done by adjuncts, many of whom teach at community college as well. Fordham’s graduate school is being depleted due to a lack of interest and non-existent rankings. He has begged, borrowed and stolen for sure but his CUSP direction is embarrassing, it shows a directionless president. Fordham can and will do allot better, it squanders location and proximity in NYC always, it is a token school in a major city. Honestly I would not attend Fordham knowing what I now know and see, there are way better options out there for the money. Also, McShane has brutally limited free speech which is a basic tenet of our society, Fordham operates within it’s own rule system which I find absolutely scary.

I studied at Fordham from 2007 to 2011 and I have kept an eye on all the goings on at the university over the years since then. Fr. McShane has been an excellent steward and leader for Fordham and I have the utmost faith in his efforts as president. His fervent belief in the university’s mission was one of the big reasons that I, as a born and raised Texan, decided to come to Fordham for college. I think that I share many of my classmates’ feelings when I say that I hope he continues to be president of Fordham for many years to come.

Should have asked him why Fordham was blocking a Palestinian student group ! For sure McShane made the call on that one so as in his mind he did not to offend imaginary future potential Jewish donors!

McShane needs to move on, he has had a huge agenda going for the Jesuits vs actual academics. The Dodransbicentennial enlightenment is just a fundraising trick and a way to mask over issues, we all see through it. CUSP is simply a comedy show and provides zero insight or direction ! The ”mission” McShane wants is overtly religious and hell bent on social services vs say science or engineering where the jobs are, he wants disciples. Why get a degree from a social service university for 47k a year when you could just do charity work for free or attend church daily !! Fordham desperately needs a new president, one who can change course from McShane’s blathering and chasing one’s own tail directionless.

The Ram asked him puppy questions, clearly there is an intimidation factor and it is clueless in reporting what is really going on regarding the sentiments/concerns of the Fordham community. McShane is like a pimp, half the faculty are adjuncts of varying qualify getting Subway wages on a temporary basis, this while Fordham fills the classrooms with students paying $5500 each. The mafia would be impressed with McShane and then there is his skimming operation from certain faculties that are profitable. Fordham should do a survey monkey and show how it is perceived.
