As this year ends, ask yourself, how do I want to finish off 2017?! For the most wonderful time of the year, we have collected the top 5 must do holiday events before calling it a year! All of these events are within a college student budget – FREE!
1. 44th Annual Merry Tuba Christmas at Rockefeller Center
Where: 30 Rockefeller Plaza
When: Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017 at 3:30 p.m.
Hundreds of brass and tenor tuba players are meeting up at the Rinx located at the one and only, Rockefeller Center.
There will be iconic Christmas carols for all you Christmas singers! This is a perfect time to escape from the books for some love, cheer, and of course, hot cocoa.
2. Kwanzaa 2017 at American Museum of Natural History
Where: Milstein Hall of Ocean Life in the American Museum of Natural History
When: Saturday, Dec 30 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Join the American Museum of Natural History to celebrate Kwanzaa.
Habari Gani? (Swahili for “What’s The News?) This African American heritage is rooted in seven principles known as Nguzo Saba. This promotes unity, culture and community development.
The program will feature a live musical performance, an overview of the Kwanzaa principles and a marketplace for show cases of local artisans. Tickets are free with a museum admission.
3. Menorah on the High Line
Where: The High Line on the porch at 15th Street
When: Sunday, Dec. 17 from 5:00 p.m – 6:30 p.m
New York City knows how to celebrate the holidays and Hanukkah is no different. The first ever
The menorah on the High Line will be lit on the porch at 15th street. This event is perfect for a family outing and you can top it off with latkes, donuts, chocolate gelt and dreidels for all.

4. Winter Solstice Candle Light Park
Where: Van Cortlandt Park
When: Sunday, Dec 17, from 5:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
Explore the wildlife and the cosmos and celebrate the history and holidays with a fun-filled,candlelight walk on the old Putnam Trail in New York City’s third largest park: Van Cortlandt Park.

5. Holiday Train Show
Where: New York Botanical Garden
When: Wednesday, Nov. 22–Monday, Jan.15.
Relive your childhood fantasy only minutes away from the gates of Fordham University.
