USG Announces 2020-2021 Election Results
The United Student Government (USG) announced the results of its 2020-2021 election on April 3.
Prior to voting, USG held its annual Meet the Candidates night virtually through website pages and YouTube videos. All campaigning was done virtually this year.
Olivia Quartell, FCRH ’21, and Thomas Reuter, FCRH ’22, were elected as executive president and executive vice president, respectively. They will take over from Kaylee Wong, GSB ’20, and Ashley Qamar, GSB ’20.
Eight out of nine vice president positions were uncontested. Anna Lazzaro, FCRH ’21, was elected as the vice president of FCRH after running against Tyler Raciti, FCRH ’21. Lazzaro will take over from current Vice President of FCRH Patrick Fox, FCRH ’20.
Audrey Felton, FCRH ’22, will take over the role of vice president of operations for Quartell. Lindsay Sullivan, FCRH ’22, will assume the role of vice president of health and security for Emma Budd, FCRH ’20.
Mary Katherine Smith, FCRH ’23, served as a senator this past year and was elected to the role of vice president of student life. Maya Bentovim, GSB ’23, will assume the role of vice president of communications after serving as a senator this past year. Arianna Chen, FCRH ’22, served as a senator this year and will assume the role of vice president of diversity and inclusion next year.
Elizabeth Bjorklund, FCRH ’21, will begin her third term as vice president of finance and budgets. Reilly Keane, GSB ’21, will remain the vice president of GSB. Maggie Tattersfield, FCRH ’22, will remain the vice president of sustainability.
Senators for GSB class of 2021 include returning senator Nicholas Abbazio, GSB ’21, and write-in candidates Katie Keane, GSB ’21, and Trayer Musselman, GSB ’21.
Carsyn Fisher, FCRH ’21, and Carlos Rico, FCRH ’21 will return as senators for the FCRH class of 2021.
Flannery Brown, FCRH ’22, Iris Maloney, FCRH ’22, and returning senator David D’Onofrio, FCRH ’22, will represent FCRH class of 2022.
Returning senator Luke Morgan, GSB ’22, and write-in candidate Griffin LaMarche, GSB ’22, are the senators for GSB class of 2022.
Senators for GSB class of 2023 include returning senator Alex Chavez, GSB ’23, and Stephen Pastore, GSB ’23.
Returning senators Jonathan Eng, FCRH ’23, and Phillip Krehbiel, FCRH ’23, will represent FCRH class of 2023 along with new senator Teresa Jacob, FCRH ’23.
As co-election commissioner, Budd congratulated all of the candidates for their hard work over the past few weeks.
“I know it can’t have been easy to stay motivated and campaign under these circumstances, and I’ve been so impressed by everyone’s dedication and willingness to adapt to doing this a little differently this year,” said Budd. “I can’t wait to see how everyone’s initiatives and ideas come to life next year!”
Wong expressed similar congratulations and thanks to all of the candidates for campaigning under unexpected circumstances.
“We were very proud to have similar voter turnout to past years, despite not being in person,” said Wong. “Everyone brought such passion and new ideas to their platforms and I hope to see many of these ideas accomplished in the upcoming year. Congratulations again to everyone!”
