Fantasy Football:
Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em:
QB
Jonah: Joe Burrow (Start) – Despite the Bengals’ disastrous start, Burrow has arguably been playing some of the best football of his career as of late. Couple this with the fact that he is set to be facing off against a middling Giants secondary, and he is a must start.
Griffin: Geno Smith (Start) – Smith is still rock solid despite some of the Seahawks’ struggles lately. Look for him to have a big night at home against the 49ers in primetime.
Joe: Joe Burrow (Start) – Burrow has been electric of late, and that shouldn’t stop this week in New Jersey. The Giants have posed a decent passing defense this year, but the Bengals, in dire need of a win, should carve through the NY secondary en route to a win.
RB
Jonah: Brian Robinson Jr. (Sit) – This has nothing to do with Robinson as a player, but rather the matchup he’s going to find himself in this coming weekend – not only will he be facing off against an always-stout Ravens defensive line, but the Commanders will likely look to air the ball out against a subpar Ravens secondary.
Joe: Rhamondre Stevenson (Start) – It’s been a weird season for Stevenson. He started out hot, fumbled a whole bunch, got benched, and somehow turned in an impressive performance in week five. With Drake Maye taking over quarterback duties, expect the rookie to rely on Stevenson as a checkdown option, giving him that always-lucrative PPR value.
Griffin: Jordan Mason (Start) – As a Seahawks fan, I’ll be the first to admit that our run defense is awful. When you mix that with how Jordan Mason started his season and toss in a little divisional beef as a seasoning, it makes a recipe for a strong performance.
WR
Jonah: Drake London (Start) – London has had a really solid and consistent start to his season, recording 12+ fantasy points in each of his past four outings. Look for him to continue rolling against a Panthers secondary that has looked lost at times this year.
Griffin: Terry Mclaurin (Start) – Rookie QB Jayden Daniels will lean on his wide receiver one in a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
Joe: Michael Pittman Jr. (Sit) – Pittman Jr. caught a TD last week, but I’d consider him a TD-dependent flex at this stage. The Colts WR1 simply hasn’t gotten consistent looks this year, and it seems that Alex Pierce has gained more fantasy value as the Colts’ deep threat option. In four games without a TD, Pittman has put up a start-worthy number just one time.
TE
Jonah: David Njoku (Sit) – Njoku came back from injury last week and did next-to-nothing, recording a single catch for a measly 14 yards against a rather poor Commanders’ secondary. I genuinely see no reason why he would all of a sudden snap back into form this week against a very stout Philadelphia defense.
Joe: Evan Engram (Sit) – Engram is (finally) slated to return to action in week six, but he’ll do so against a Bears defense that has been above average against opposing tight ends. In what should be a low-scoring affair between two inconsistent offenses, fade Engram until he proves he’s back to his 2023 self.
Griffin: Evan Engram (Sit)- I agree with Joe. Engram is so beat-up that I doubt he’ll be able to get off to a hot start in his first game of the season, especially against the formerly impressive defense of Cleveland.
DEF
Jonah: Bengals (Sit) – Every time I think to myself, “Surely the Bengals’ defense cannot get worse!” they somehow seem to surprise me and take another step back. Fade the Bengals’ D until at least next year.
Griffin: Commanders and Ravens (Sit) – This inter-conference matchup has shootout written all over it, with both teams’ offenses firing on all cylinders heading into week 6.
Joe: Falcons (Start) – With two of the game’s best ballhawks to a slew of adept pass rushers, foresee a nice output from a Falcons defense that should suppress their division-rival Panthers’ Andy Dalton- and Chuba Hubbard-led attack.
