Grammy-winning, multi-instrumentalist super talents Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak have much in common. They have both certified themselves as heavy hitters in R&B and hip-hop over the last decade with their unique sounds and celebrated discographies. What happens if two household names join forces as one? Supergroups like Madvillain, Run The Jewels and Kids See Ghosts prove that they bring out the best in each other, and Silk Sonic is certainly no exception. 

“Leave The Door Open” serves as an introduction to Silk Sonic’s upcoming album “An Evening With Silk Sonic.” The breakout single is already a certified classic. From start to finish, “Leave The Door Open” is an absolute joy to listen to. Anderson .Paak’s introductory vocals are accompanied by a groovy selection of guitar, bass, drums and piano that are smooth enough to be refreshing, but fun enough to be exciting. Then, all of a sudden, Bruno Mars’ angelic vocals descend from the heavens accompanied by a slight change in pitch and a rich harmony that is so bright and energetic it is almost overwhelming. It has been two years since Mars has released any new music, so the way he immediately shows off his range is quite the welcome back to the forefront of mainstream music.

Mars and .Paak’s back-and-forth exchange throughout the entire song does not leave room for a single dull moment. Their vocal styles and instrumental talents play off of each other so well that it is a shame they did not collaborate until now. 

“Leave The Door Open” is a fantastic song, ensuring the album will be a smash hit. In a world where everything seems to be going wrong, Silk Sonic is doing everything right.
