Fordham Experimental Theatre’s Sketch Comedy Club, “Free Pizza,” performed their first two shows of the semester this past weekend.
The show was filled with hilarious scenes depicting the It clown and his affinity for high heels, an Amish butter-churning commercial, a lonely man in love with Amazon’s Alexa and an incredible “historical” concept of the origins of gender politics, to name just a few.
The show concluded with the mention of Free Pizza’s three newest members; Ryan Corr, Daphne Moses and Bailey Woodard. Here’s what we know!
Name: Ryan Corr
Major: Undeclared
Graduation year: 2021
Fun fact: I do not like ketchup.
Alexandra Mandalankis: Why Free Pizza?
Ryan Corr: I wanted to join Free Pizza because sketch is something I’ve never done before and I just wanted to give it a shot, and I heard about them through my cousin.
AM: What is your experience?
RC: I did theatre before but no sketch or any experimental theatre.
AM: What are you looking forward to with Free Pizza?
RC: I’m looking forward to learning how to write sketches because I’ve never tried to write a sketch but performing them is a blast!!!
AM: How did the show go?
RC: The show was super fun. I had no idea I would enjoy it as much as I did. The whole crew is awesome to work with and I’m so happy to be part of it now!
Name: Daphne Moses
Major: Art History
Graduation Year: 2021
Fun Fact: I was in a Coca Cola commercial my junior year of high school. I was ultimately cut from it, but I think it was because I was too eye catching and distracted the audience from the beverage.
AM: Why Free Pizza?
Daphne Moses: I saw the mini show earlier this semester and couldn’t stop thinking about how funny it was and how badly I wanted to be friends with everyone on stage. I didn’t think I would make it in but I could at least tell my mom that I put myself out there in college.
AM: What is your experience?
DM: I have never done sketch comedy but I’ve done theatre in the past. I have also dabbled in improv over the years. This summer I did a camp with my high school acting teacher for adult improv and had a blast, aside from being the youngest person there by 10 years.
AM: What are you looking forward to with Free Pizza?
DM: I’m really looking forward to writing sketches with the other slices. Everyone is so cool and funny (and maybe a little intimidating) and I feel really special to be involved in something like this with them.
AM: What’s your favorite kind of pizza?
DM: Pepperoni…basic, I know.
Name: Bailey Woodard
Major: Journalism
Graduation Year: 2021
Fun Fact: I’m from Texas.
AM: Why Free Pizza?
Bailey Woodard: I love comedy, and it’s the closest that college me could get to being in SNL.
AM: What is your experience?
BW: I wrote sketches for different classes and fundraisers in high school but never really performed them.
AM: What are you looking forward to with Free Pizza?
BW: I’m looking forward to a great year and a lot of great laughs with Free Pizza in the future.
AM: How did you think the show went?
BW: I think the first show went really well! We got a lot of laughs, which is all you can really ask for in comedy!
