For Galentine’s Day, my friends and I always look forward to getting together and doing something special to celebrate our friendship. This year, we’ve been brainstorming a few different ideas that would make the day memorable.
One option we’re considering is a full Galentine’s weekend getaway. We’re thinking of renting an Airbnb or a hotel and splitting the cost to make it affordable. This would be perfect to escape from the daily grind and to really focus on spending quality time together. We’ll decorate the place in all the classic Valentine’s colors; pink, red and white. We would love to have matching pajamas, enjoy a cozy brunch and just soak in the time with each other.
We’re also planning to do some fun activities like playing games, maybe even some DIY crafts (something crafty but not too complicated). One of us suggested doing a little photoshoot since I have a professional camera, and it would be so cute to have those pictures as memories from the weekend. We’re also thinking of cooking together, which we all love. Everyone has their own specialty dish, so it’ll be like a mini potluck brunch where we all contribute.
Another option we’re considering is going to a Valentine’s themed restaurant or one that has a pink aesthetic. There’s a spot called Magic Hour in Manhattan, so we’re thinking that would be a great place for some Instagram-worthy moments.
The third option is becoming the front runner: just having the celebration at one of our houses. This is the most flexible and relaxing option since we wouldn’t have to worry about bookings or traveling. We can still decorate everything in the Valentine’s Day theme, have our matching PJs and order some great food from our favorite spots. We could play some card games or watch our favorite rom-coms. It’s a great way to just relax, unwind and really enjoy each other’s company without any outside pressure.
To me, celebrating Galentine’s Day is so important because it’s a reminder of how much love exists beyond romantic relationships. Friendship is such a crucial part of life, and we don’t always take enough time to appreciate and nurture those bonds. Galentine’s is a way to really focus on the love between friends, something that’s just as valuable as any romantic relationship. It’s a celebration of support, laughter, shared memories and everything that makes our friendships.
While Valentine’s Day is often tied to couples, I believe the holiday should definitely be celebrated for all forms of love, whether romantic or platonic. It’s about recognizing the people who are always there for you, supporting you and making your life brighter. Celebrating friendship is just as important and I think it’s a great way to show gratitude for the people who bring joy and positivity into your life. Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to hang out with the people who make you feel loved and appreciated?
