When else will you feel like you’re living in a real-life “Sex and the City” New York fall but now, especially since the fall season has officially begun? Sorry, gentlemen who haven’t watched it yet, but my ladies will understand this unexplainable feeling. The fabulous, sunny 70-degree weather with the aroma of pumpkin spice filling the air — what’s not to love?
With that in mind, the weather inspires our fashion. In the thrill of summer, we dress like dynamic cheetahs, and as we fizzle to winter, we are cuddled up like sheep. The dynamic colors we gradually transition to are something I look forward to, but my absolute favorite fashion season is fall! With last week setting the fall fashion stage, due to New York Fashion Week (NYFW) taking place, let’s get into what’s in style for this season!
From Sept. 11 through Sept.16, NYFW took over the runway. As many are excited for the fall skirt or minimalist look, let’s first talk about what allows you to rock that outfit on those long avenues: boots! It’s only natural that boots complement and complete a chic outfit. Out of all the other shoes out there, boots give you the most leg room and are flexible in several weather conditions. As Vogue mentioned, “At Burberry and Altuzarra, the high-thigh boots are making a comeback,” styling well under flowy dresses, skirts and even over trousers. Meanwhile, leaning towards a more European-Western style in France, Louis Vuitton, Isabel Marant and Sportmax revived the slouch boot, also known as the “pirate” boot.
For minimalists, be aware of glove boots, which were spotlighted in fall 2025 runways from brands like Miu Miu or Herbet Levine. The silhouette ankle or knee high complement under dresses and midskirts — personally, one of my favorites.
My ultimate go-to is the black ankle boot. I’m guilty of wearing my Guess ankle boots throughout the year, but especially in fall or winter. They pair well with dresses, jeans and jumpsuits. The extra heel elevates your look, providing a classy, girl-boss vibe. Designers like Yves Saint Laurent and Jimmy Choo have perfected comfortable block heels that work for any occasion.
Have we seen this year’s fall fringe look? Madeline Fass, Associate Fashion Director of Vogue shared her embrace of amplifying the minimalist look: “I am a minimalist at heart, that doesn’t mean I don’t crave texture of bold details,” Fass said. Through fringe and draping silhouettes in Lina’s dress and long maxi skirts, texture and accent are everything. My personal favorite is the Lina dress created by Malene Birger, an ivory white sweater dress with a beigeish-brown fringe accent on the arm sleeves and bottom skirt.
As we progress towards November, we can start to appreciate the Scarf coat. “There is something so effortless and elegant about being bundled up in a wrap coat,” Andrea Zendejas, market editor, said. We could see some coats from Calvin Klein from Vogue’s top picks. When in doubt, if I throw on my wrap coat and some cute boots with it, I know I’ll be in style.
What goes wonderfully underneath a wrap coat? Picture a beautiful, slim and hourglass-shaped dress. Those soft shoulders and cinched waists exude an air of elegance. My favorites are crafted from cashmere, velvet and wool, bringing an unmatched softness and quality that complements the fall weather beautifully.
Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about the“Sex and The City” fashion trends brought into this fall’s 2025 collection at Zara. The polka dot trend has come back into play since earlier this summer. This playful pattern, accentuated with halter necks, neck scarves or bows in the back, makes for a perfect date outfit or office fit — right, Charlotte?
Zara has also revamped the classic halter top with a more sophisticated twist. Priced at $60, it features a deep V-neckline, flap pockets and fabric that strikes a perfect balance between sexy and structured. This top works well for a laid-back look with jeans or matching cargo pants for something more upscale, and it pairs perfectly with a jacket once the weather cools.
Obviously, fashion is strictly all about personal choice and expression. However, I strongly disagree with the bohemian look when paired incorrectly in fall fashion. I resonate more with the minimalist fall fashion look because a fun aspect is layering the outfit up, whether that’s with boots, scarves or a chic jacket. As a lot of fashionistas or fashion models can agree upon, the key points in an outfit that make it feel like a Michelin-starred, exemplary outfit are walking with your head high and feeling more attractive and confident than ever. After all, as Carrie Bradshaw mentions, “I like my money where I can see it … hanging in my closet.”
