Fordham University has dropped six spots in the 2026 U.S. News and World Report Best National Universities ranking. Fordham is newly placed at number 97 out of the 436 National Universities, dropping from 91 last year. The University is tied with Florida International University, Rutgers University-Camden, Texas Christian University and University of Colorado Boulder.
U.S. News and World Report updated their ranking system in 2023 removing some old metrics like class sizes and alumni donations, and putting more emphasis on outcomes for students. Since 2023, Fordham has dropped 25 spots.
The Fordham Ram has reached out to the University for a statement and will update this article accordingly when it is received.

In today’s WSJ College Rankings, Fordham was listed as #192. As an alum it’s most disheartening to see that the leadership of our beloved University is more focused on which Gothic lowercase “f” font to use as the replacement of the iconic “Block F” Fordham logo than it is in trying to figure out why the U.S. News’ ranking has fallen from #66 four years ago to #97 in 2025. But it gets worse. The Wall Street Journal’s college rankings came out today and had Fordham University at #194. Is the Board of Trustees aware of any of this?
