Tuition will rise by 4.65% for the 2025 to 2026 academic year, Fordham University announced on March 31 via email. Room and board costs will also increase, with room fees increasing by an average of 4.3% and meal plans increasing by 4.0%.
Vice President of Enrollment John W. Buckley, who authored the email to students and families, cited widespread price increases and constraints of being a university in New York City.
“Institutions large and small across the country are having to raise tuition more than forecast, because price increases that affect your family’s budget also affect institutional budgets—including ours,” said Buckley. “I have also previously shared that the New York City economy makes containing tuition costs a substantial challenge.”
The tuition rise follows other financial cuts across the university, including a hiring freeze and a cut to student worker hours. In the 2023 to 2024 academic year, the university increased tuition by 4.4%. In the year prior, tuition was increased by 6%.
