This past weekend, Fordham University celebrated its annual Homecoming Weekend and second year with President Tania Tetlow.
Starting on Thursday, Oct. 5, Fordham Athletics inducted eight individuals into the Fordham University Athletics Hall of Fame.
The individuals honored this year for their performance and legacy left on Fordham’s athletic programs were Samantha Clark FCRH ’16 (Women’s Basketball), Chase Edmonds FCRH ’18 (Football), Titi Fagade GSB ’15 (Women’s Track and Field), Elise Fortier FCRH ’14 (Softball), Jason Harris FCRH ’01 (Men’s Basketball), Nick Macarchuk (Former Men’s Basketball Head Coach), Ifeatu Otue FCRH ’74 (Men’s Soccer) and Natali Sunara FCRH ’96 (Women’s Tennis).
Following Thursday’s festivities, the annual President’s Ball was held on Edward’s Parade on Friday evening, and students dressed in semi-formal attire to celebrate the commencement of homecoming.
A tradition started in 2003 by Rev. Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president emeritus, it is credited as being an important event of the year for many undergraduate students. It aims to bring the community together and offers the chance to speak one-on-one in an informal setting with Tetlow.
With the bulk of the events starting on Saturday, Sept. 7, the 12th annual 5K “Ram Run” was held early in the morning. Shortly after, Fordham alumni and current students were excited to hear the president speak in the McShane Campus Center about her reflections on the past year.
The admissions office also held guided tours around campus to show off student life on campus.
From dorm buildings to the newly-renovated McShane Center, alumni and families could see student life at Fordham.
Early in the afternoon, the tent on Edward’s Parade opened for the weekend’s festivities, and alumni were invited in before the homecoming football game to celebrate the university community and enjoy food and drinks.
Fordham Football played a close game with Lehigh University, and ultimately, Fordham ended up winning the game 38-35 with a last second field goal.
Concluding the weekend on Sunday morning, Mass was celebrated at University Church.
“I enjoyed homecoming weekend. The events were very well put together and I enjoyed dressing up with my friends for the President’s Ball,” said Andrew Puzio, GSB ’26.
