Rapper Sammy Adams will perform at Fordham this Friday, headlining this year’s Fordham Dance Marathon (FDM). The annual dance marathon will span 10 hours, from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m., when members of RHA will reveal the total raised for The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation.

Adams is known for songs like “Driving Me Crazy,” “All Night Longer,” and “I Hate College,” a remix of an Asher Roth song that reached 10 million views on YouTube.

Jacklyn Onody, GSB ’20, and Kimona Dussard, FCRH ’20, are FDM’s co-directors. They said Adams’s positive vibe will set the tone for the event.

“We chose Sammy Adams because we knew he’d appeal to a lot of the student population at Fordham,” said Onody and Dussard in a statement. “His music is upbeat and fun, and we want to ensure that all the attendees get excited about Fordham Dance Marathon (FDM) & The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation’s cause- helping families impacted by pediatric cancer.”

Last year, FDM booked rapper Chiddy Bang for the headlining performance. RHA stuck with a rap performance for this year as well. Onody and Dussard said university offices assisted in Adams’s booking.

“For the booking of the performer this year we had great support from the Office of Residential Life, especially Alex Fischer and Stephanie Guerrera,” they said in a statement. “Without their support we would not have been able to pull off this booking. Additionally, we would like to thank Dean Rodgers for all his help as well.”

Adams will take the stage after earlier acts including The Usual, Waldo Black and DJ Jacqs. Fordham groups the Ramblers, Satin Dolls, Flava, Expressions and Moment of Magic will also perform to benefit pediatric cancer.

Last year, the FDM total revealed over $100,000, but this year’s goal has not been disclosed. It will be revealed at midnight on March 8 at the close of the event. Tickets can be purchased for the Friday fundraiser in advance for $10 online and $15 at the door.
