We are only a quarter of the way done with the NFL season and there have been so many surprises and storylines to talk about with the 32 teams, but could one of them be that there could already be a favorite to win the Super Bowl this early?
The Los Angeles Rams have won every game they played this season and put up amazing numbers on both sides of the ball. It just seems like they don’t have any flaws. You could literally go from position to position, from power to speed and coaching to pride and passion, and they come out on top.
Coach Sean McVay, the youngest coach in the NFL, has turned this franchise around in just two years. Winning coach of the year last year by turning the worst offense into the highest scoring offense last year was no surprise considering the players they had. Then, with an offseason frenzy of many big names coming over via trade or signings the Rams look like a superteam through six games.
They have put up 30 or more points in all but one game and have embarrassed defenses along the way. Plus, they haven’t had an easy schedule so far. Jared Goff and Todd Gurley, who was the offensive player of the year last season, haven’t shown any signs of stopping. The receivers—Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp—have been running all over defenses. And the defense has been mostly outstanding with, newly acquired defensive backs Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib, and who can forget the scariest duo in football, Ndamukong Suh and 2017 Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald.
With the NFC West losing Jimmy Garoppolo to a torn ACL and Seattle and Arizona having their struggles this year, there isn’t anyone coming close to them in that division. They already blew out the Cardinals 34-0 in Week Two and topped the Seahawks 33-31.
The NFC is full of surprises this year and who knows who could come out of it. Each team has something to look at with at least some hope to make it to the postseason early in the year. Almost every team has that one piece that can give them that little push but it seems the Rams have the whole puzzle figured out.
After not going far in the playoffs last year, McVay and the Rams are poised to not only make the postseason, but also go far. The NFC is very talented and it could be an interesting ride down the line, but right now, nothing is stopping Los Angeles.
