After COVID-19 conflicts forced the Patriot League to postpone its fall football season, they have revealed new hopes for an abbreviated one in the Spring. The League has prepared for its usual array of sports, with a four-game season applying to the Fordham Football program.

Specifically, the League has reduced its six-team conference into two three-team divisions in an effort to reduce travel and other health complications. Fordham will be placed in the North Division, competing against Colgate and Holy Cross, whereas Bucknell, Lafayette and Lehigh occupy the South. The schedule will consist of two divisional and non-divisional games, with details set to come at a later date. Georgetown is the only program currently foregoing the season. 

While things are of course fluid, the current schedule intends to begin on Saturday, March 13th, culminating on April 17th with the League championship. The length of the season ensures a smooth transition to a normal schedule in the Fall of this year.

Back in July, Fordham was forced to suspend its fall season after the Patriot League canceled all competition. However, the possibility of a later comeback was left open at the time. Now, the Rams know when they will be playing as they look to compete for a Championship in this limited time frame.

Last year, the Rams finished with a 4-8 record. However, they welcome in a 2020 recruiting class yet to see the field and return a good number of their leading performers amid a strong senior class. 

Fordham fell to both their divisional foes last season, 24-13 to Colgate and 49-27 to the Crusaders on Homecoming. However, the phrase “it is a new season” reigns more true than ever before, and the Rams are now set for that season in the spring.
