A dominant Bayern Munich smashed Italian side Roma in a blowout win, Real Madrid showed their superiority as they cruised to victory of Liverpool.
Roma 1-7 Bayern Munich:
Bayern Munich secured a commanding victory over Roma in a clash of two big teams. Bayern controlled the match from start to finish with big goals from Arjen Robben and Robert Lewandowski asserting a huge win.
Bayern came into this game off two straight Champions League wins and topping their group with six points while Roma had four points and were in 2nd place in the table. Bayern have been dominant this season both domestically and in European matches, as they look to be favorites in the fight for the Champions League title. Roma, after adding offensive firepower this summer, look to be a bright spot during this CL campaign and a contender for a domestic title in Italy.
Despite expectations of the match being a close affair, Bayern immediately took control of the game with an early goal from Dutch forward Arjen Robben, who curled it into the back post. Then in the 23rd minute, Bayern scored again through German forward Mario Gotze. This opened up the floodgates, as Bayern proceeded to score three goals in the first half to put the lead up to 0-5 at halftime with goals from Lewandowski, Robben and Muller. Roma managed to get one consolation goal from Gervinho in the second half, but Bayern only added to the misery by scoring two more goals to put the game at 1-7.
Liverpool 0-3 Real Madrid:
Real Madrid put on a master class performance away against Liverpool to gain a large victory against the English giants. Real were led by two goals from Karim Benzema, putting them firmly on track in their journey of defending their Champions League crown.
Los Blancos have looked fantastic in the CL this season as they came into this match with two straight wins and topping their group. After adding Colombian star James Rodriguez this summer, Real are in a prime position for repeating as CL champions. Liverpool finally recaptured a Champions League spot last year after being out of the competition for a while. The English club have struggled somewhat in their group, as they picked up three points in two games against sides they are better than on paper.
Real dominated the game from the start, using their superior possession and clinical scoring to secure an away win at Anfield. Ronaldo scored a beautiful one time volley and did not give the Liverpool keeper a chance. Real secured the win in the first half with two more goals from forward Karim Benzema, putting them in firm control of their group.
